Cordyceps: Herbal Highlight

Cordyceps, also called “caterpillar fungus,” is described as a “mushroom” that grows on the bodies of moth larvae in the mountainous regions of China and Tibet. Cordyceps is parasitic in nature. The moth larvae is usually about 6 inches below the ground, where the cordyceps grows. As the fungus matures, it consumes more than 90% of the infected insects, mummifying the hosts.
