Holiday Eating Strategies
Eat, drink, and be merry. Right? Well, yes and no.
The holiday season is full of delicious, comforting food and drinks, but it can also become a time of stress, overeating, and weight gain. According to the National Institutes of Health, holiday eating can result an extra couple of pounds per year. And they don’t always come off! But the weight gain itself is not the issue (we need to love our bodies and not apply unhealthy standards to them), instead it’s an indication that we’ve lost the healthy balance of food, activity, and fun.
Winter’s Penetrating Cold
It’s that time of the year when the cold wind takes your breath away and the cold air creeps insidiously into our homes. Transitioning to Winter
I am not a winter person and I struggle to remain buoyant in the long NYC winter. Its extra hard as my family and friends in New Zealand are literally in the middle of summer at this time of year, with everyone posting pictures of summer life! My January birthday–celebrated always at the beach, during midsummer at home–is now in the depths of brutal winter. It’s tough!

Halloween is here and there is no doubt that the temptation to have a treat is lurking at every turn! Sugar is addictive and, for some people, starting down that path is a dangerous journey. The effects of sugar, as a product of refining, is often compared to drugs, as quoted in a popular dietary classic, Sugar Blues by William Dufty, released in 1975.
FROM THE PRACTITIONERS
Taking risks makes us stronger, braver, and more resilient. With Halloween around the corner, we asked our practitioners to name the SCARIEST thing they’ve ever done. Or to tell us what risks they took to make them the most powerful versions of themselves!

While scanning all the information in the waiting room of my dentist’s office, I came across a plaque that I had never paid attention to before. The plaque was called The ABCs of Life.
