August is a month of shifts and changes with vacation time at its peak, Fridays are frequently half-days, kids come back from camp, people try to squeeze all they can from the remainder of summer. The weather starts to shift, with cooler mornings and evenings (perfect for those early or late day runs).

Family enjoying their first summer vacation together

Don’t forget to step outside and take advantage of the sunshine (with sunscreen, of course!). Find some time to slow down and be present in the moment. Remember to use a scarf at night to wrap loosely around your neck if the weather cools. It’s times like these with weather shifts and ventures into so many environments that enable pathogens to slip in, making us susceptible to colds. Pay attention to what your body is telling you. Hydrate, take preventative measures, there are many herbal options to boost immune systems. Take your Vitamin C, Emergen-C, Gan Mao Ling, Yin Chiao, orย any other tricks you have up your sleeve. Just because it’s still summer, it does not mean that you are not vulnerable to colds and germs.

If you feel a little scratchy throat or run-down, maybe it’s time to book an acupuncture treatment to keep your body in tip-top shape so you can enjoy the dog days of summer!
