Pumpkin Possibilities

Pumpkins are synonymous with fall. Have you started carving your pumpkins to make jack-o-lanterns yet? Roasting pumpkin seeds? Before you toss the pumpkin remnants, here are two DYI ideas that are easy to make with pumpkin meat and other common household ingredients!

Honey Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask
(Adapted from the National Honey Board)


Honey attracts and retains moisture while also inhibiting growth of bad bacteria. Use this homemade maskย 
that is good for all skin typesย to prevent dull and dry skin!

What you need:

1 teaspoonย of pre-brewed green tea
2 teaspoons of diced pineapple and/or papaya
4 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon of honey
2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel
1/2 teaspoon ofย jojobaย oil
4 teaspoons of cornmeal

What to do:

In blender or food processor, puree pineapple and place in medium-sized mixing bowl. Add pumpkin, honey and aloe. Mix well.

Stir in jojoba oil, green tea and cornmeal.

Once it is mixed well, apply as you would any exfoliating mask!ย 

Store remaining mask covered in refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Pumpkin Body Butter Cleanser

This mixture is full of antioxidants, removes dead skin cells, and nourishes your skin while also being warming and moisturizing!ย 

What you need:

1/2 cup of organic pumpkin puree
1/2 cup of solids from a can of coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

What to do:

Simply mix the ingredients in a bowl until well blended.ย 

Massage into skin in the shower or bath and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse and enjoy soft, supple skin!
