Adorable little dog wearing a striped turtleneck knitted sweater matching scarf with pom poms and beanie to keep warm during chilly winter.Cooler temperatures mean more layers and warmer clothes. It can also mean more bouts of cold and flu. As the temperature drops, we must be mindful of protecting our bodies from the elements. The cold air and chilly drafts can wreck havoc on our body’s natural ability to resist external pathogens from invading our systems, leading to aches, stiff necks and shoulders, sore throat, runny noses, coughs, chest congestion, and more.

There are two very important areas of the body to keep covered and protected from cool air and drafts: the neck and the torso. When exposed to cold air, these areas can create internal imbalances, weakening our external defensive energy and creating an opportunity for illness to occur: a wind cold invasion. ‘Tis the season to make those scarves an essential accessory. Longer shirts and jackets are also key in keeping the cold air off the mid section. Be mindful when venturing out. Dress in layers and always keep your neck and torso protected.
