Getting through the colder weather with fewer hours of daylight can be a challenge. Feeling good and staying healthy requires planning. Just like losing weight, it doesn’t happen in one day. It’s a process that includes a change in habits.
Cooler weather often leads to the desire for more comfort foods. Eating healthy equates to feeling healthy, with less bloating and more energy. Root vegetables make wonderful soups, especially this time of year. Adding a bit of curry can also add an energetic zing.
Regular acupuncture treatments are wonderful for mood and balance maintenance during these months.
Schedule weekly martial arts classes. It’s the perfect time to begin a martial arts such as Jujitsu, Aikido, or Tai Kwan Do. This will help regulate mood and release aggression, as well as being a great way to meet people.
Continue daily exercise.
Go on outdoor runs. The cooler weather can expand your stamina for long jogs.
Add in a ritual of evening tea (de-caffinated).
Learn to meditate. Take a private or group class or download an app called Headspace or the many other apps available to help guide you to peace and balance.
Take advantage of the earlier nights and indulge in a bit more sleep–it does wonders for your health.
If you can, schedule a warm getaway. Go to Aruba or a Caribbean Island. There are some great deals to be had. If not, crank up the heat and create a cozy, relaxing oasis in your own home!
