SADThe holidays can be overwhelming, between the colder weather, early darkness, more time with family, finding the perfect gifts, purchasing those perfect gifts, navigating crowds, falling off a healthy diet, getting less exercise, or some other stressor. Whew, it’s exhausting just to write about it.
There are also lighter and brighter aspects to this season. Earlier evenings could allow for an earlier bedtime and more restorative, replenishing sleep. It’s also the perfect time to catch up on some desired reading.
Cleaning house and creating order can also come a little easier when there is less temptation to be outside.
Winter is also the perfect time to put the blender to use. Root vegetable soups are nourishing and filling. Add a little cumin for an anti- inflammatory effect.
Pick up a new skill such as knitting, crocheting, piano, guitar, or some other hobby.
Feeling crafty? Make some ornaments for the holiday.
Organize your photos.
Other healthy habits to nurture include meditation, baths with epsom salt, massages, and acupuncture to relieve stress and boost immunity.
Winter time is a time to celebrate. It’s a time to celebrate friends and family. A time to celebrate ourselves.
