The Nuts and Bolts
Developed by Fritz Smith, MD in the early 1970s, Zero Balancing is a powerful body-mind therapy that uses skilled touch to address the relationship between energy and structures of the body. Following a protocol that typically lasts 30 to 55 minutes, the practitioner uses finger pressure and gentle traction on areas of tension in the bones, joints and soft tissue to create fulcrums, or points of balance, around which the body can relax and reorganize. Zero Balancing focuses primarily on key joints of our skeleton that conduct and balance forces of gravity, posture and movement. By addressing the deepest and densest tissues of the body along with soft tissue and energy fields, Zero Balancing helps to clear blocks in the bodyโ€™s energy flow, amplify vitality and contribute to better postural alignment. Personal Testimonial and the Sail Boat Phenomenon.
Personally, Zero Balancing brought me into adulthood. Until I found ZB I had no idea that the reason I was struggling to mature in the ways that I wanted to was that my bodyโ€™s energy was so scattered and out of sync with my structure that life felt so hard in every way. Once my energy and structural bodies unified I had a sense of coming home to myself. From there my body aches and physical injuries, as well as my emotional wounds, healed so much more quickly and easily than ever before.
Dr. Smith (osteopath, acupuncturist and developer of Zero Balancing) uses the analogy of a sailboat. The boat, including the sail, is our bodyโ€™s structure: bones, muscles, ligaments etc. The wind is our bodyโ€™s energy. A few lucky people are able to tack into the wind and get on their way with ease. But for most of us, itโ€™s not so easy. The sail flutters, we work into angling towards the wind as best we can but often move forward in fits and starts. Zero Balancing practitioners can touch your energy and feel it, and they can touch your structure as well. They can alert these two things to each other and therefore balance the energy with the structure just like tacking the wind strongly and smoothly into the sail. What I love most about Zero Balancing is that the ZB practitioner doesnโ€™t really DO anything. All the practitioner does is alert what is out of balance to the body so that the body can recognize and rebalance itself. ZB capitalizes on the bodyโ€™s own inherent intelligence and eagerness to be at peak health.
Zero Balancing is energy work without needles, massage without disrobing, counseling without talking, skeletal alignment without cracking. It is incredibly simple and astoundingly powerful.

Why is it called Zero Balancing?
Zero balancing is alchemical. To achieve wellness ZB does not add or subtract anything but transmutes what is not ideal into what is. When all the noise, effort and discomfort suddenly just IS clarity, ease and strength; it leaves you feeling like you have just been Balanced to Zero.
