The heart may be a symbol of true love, romance, and emotion, but it is also an organ, an impressive complicated muscle that fuels every function in our bodies. No wonder it has inspired countless poems, sonnets, lyrics, and sappy greeting card rhymes. Valentine’s Day brings with it an abundance of the iconic heart shape in many guises, from glittery stickers and lacy doilies to chocolate confections and giant balloons. February is also the time to celebrate an essential, amazing powerhouse within our bodies.
Heart disease is the still the leading cause of death for men and women, but it is also the most preventable. Diet and nutrition, exercise and self-care, anxiety and stress reduction, meditation and relaxation are all positive, effective ways to protect this most valued organ, cherishing and treasuring it.
Remember to have a heart, for your own heart!
