This New Year, as one decade draws to a close and a new one begins, it seems like the perfect time to reflect on the past, dream of the future, and make a few good New Year’s Resolutions to carry through 2020 and into the future.

In this contemplative spirit, I’ve found that I’m not satisfied with a resolution like the ones I’ve made in the past — eating healthier or reading more books. Over the past ten years, it’s become clearer and clearer that our environment needs our help, and our communities need healing. And so– I want my resolutions to reflect these concerns in a more tangible way.

If there’s any new year to be ambitious, the start of a new decade is the one. I’ve decided to challenge myself with resolutions in three categories: A resolution of self-improvement, a resolution revolving around connecting with others, and a resolution to care for the earth. While I’m still ironing out the details, I’m hopeful that focusing on balancing my perspective and priorities between those three directions will be rewarding in 2020 and beyond.

Now we are turning to you, our community: what are some of your goals for 2020? Are there resolutions that have multiple benefits? Let us know what you are thinking in the comments below!
