Q: What do you do at Element and how long have you been there?

A: I am an esthetician at Element (which means I give facials & do waxing). I’ve been part of the Element team since December 2012.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your backgroundโ€ฆ and how you came to do what you do at Element.

A: I’ve traveled far to get where I am at Element… I’ve always been fascinated with skin care, although I have only discovered my true love and passion for it a few years ago. In my previous life, I was designing accessories and handbags for various companies. Being in the crazy fashion industry for a decade made me want to slow down a bit. So about three years ago, I was ready to remove myself from that world and make a change. Now I am able to help my clients and friends achieve beautiful skin and learn to relax into my new role, instead of being caught up in the fashion world craziness.

Q: What makes your practice satisfying/fulfilling for you? What is the most misunderstood aspect of what you do?

A: The most satisfying part of my job is meeting such a wide range of individuals. I love helping them either relax or give them the right skin care regimen to makeย themย feel confident in their appearance. I truly to do feelย fulfillment in knowing my clients are happy and have seen improvement with each visit. The most misunderstood aspect of my practice is that someย people think that facials can be harmful to their skin. I alwaysย tailor my facials to my client’s specific needs. If someone doesn’t want extractions, for instance, I would never push that upon anyone. Some of my clients just want a good, deep cleanse and to relax. I make sure I take care of their individual needs, and then add an extra bonus massage for more relaxation.

Q: If you could tell a prospective/new client one or two things that are crucial to know about your practice, what would they be?

A: Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Take care of yourself from the inside and out: get rest, drink a lot of water, and eat well. Good skin takes a little tender love & care. Products can only take you so far. You need to get educated on how to care for your skin first and know what you are actually putting onย your face and what products will be beneficial. Not everyย product is for all skin types, and some labels make empty promises and can be doing more harm than good to your skin.

Q: What do you like to do when youโ€™re not at Element?

A: Indoors, I have many hobbies and projects including jewelry making, drawing, painting, and cooking, just to name a few. Also, I am old fashioned and enjoy writing letters. I have to admit that I am a sucker for good TV, which I love watching with my husband on our couch at night. I love the outdoors: bike riding, picnicking, beaching, and playing. I really enjoy the company of my friends and family so I have dinner parties every chance I get.
