Waking up

Good Morning!

Each day is a new day. Find ways to start out with ease.

Whether you have children or pets, or you are just managing yourself, getting out of the house in the morning can be a chaotic mad dash, creating a stressful beginning. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to set the stage for a balanced day by entering it in a calm manner?

There are a few ways you can make your mornings a bit less frantic and possibly even de-stress before the day truly begins. Some simple planning techniques can make a smoother morning.

Of course, the most important factor is to get a good night’s sleep. Sleep deprivation makes the mornings all the more impossible and wrenching.

Set out your choice of clothing the night before (even more crucial if you have kids, too). If you happen to iron, do that ahead of time. Staring into some of our closets hoping for inspiration under the pressure of time can be both stressful and overwhelming!

Invest in a pleasant alarm clock or set the alarm to a musical choice that makes you feel positive. Also, try to avoid hitting snooze repetitively. Continuously hitting snooze and getting little snippets of sleep increases your exhaustion. Why not just get those extra uninterrupted minutes of sleep and then wake fully into a more pleasant day?

Wake and have a full cup of water. Hydration is key.

Showering in the morning can help you to feel refreshed and ready for the day.

Have a morning routine, whether it is enjoying that piping hot cup of Joe, soothing tea, or a bracing citrus juice while reading the paper or checking the headlines on-line.

Take the time for a nourishing breakfast to get the metabolism going.

Know what your expectations are for the day. Time management is crucial when juggling lots of tasks.

Keep a list. This reduces the unnecessary stress of having to keep track of everything you have to do.

Exercise. Start with some physical activity or even a bit of stretching to tackle the the day.

Think positively and smile. It really is a brand new day and the possibilities are endless!
