It’s hard to believe that it’s nearing the end of September, which means it is apple picking season! My personal favorite apple is a Honey Crisp but I am open to any of varieties that are sweet and crispy. Apples make great snacks and apple sauce makes a great optional sweetener. Dehydrated apples and baked apples also make a delicious and healthy treat. There are many places to pick apples in the NYC vicinity. Here’s a current list NYC Apple Picking Destinations.

Apple farms or orchards make a fun and educational trip for kids. There are so many different varieties, colors, flavors, and kinds of apples. Most orchards also offer additional activities for the kiddos, including hay rides, petting zoos, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and more. Support a local apple farm or orchard and have fun being outside as the weather starts to change.
