G_7Meet Georgette Yannetti, a licensed massage therapist and aesthetician at Element Natural Healing Arts!

Tell us a little bit about your backgroundโ€ฆ and how you came to do what you do at Element.

At the age of 12, I was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. As a result I had four spine operations, none that helped. If anything, they made my situation worse. At a young age I came to appreciate massage therapy and how it could relieve pain.

As for aesthetics, like many teenagers I experienced acne. It became so bad in college that I took almost a year off from school. It was at that point I decided I wanted to attend aesthetician school.

What makes your practice satisfying/fulfilling for you? What is the most misunderstood aspect of what you do?

What is most fulfilling is the helping people. It’s a wonderful position to be in. What is most understood is how many still associate sex with massage. It’s extremely upsetting.

If you could tell a prospective/new client one or two things that are crucial to know about your practice, what would they be?

What is crucial is that I come from a place of understanding when it comes to muscular pain. With that in mind, my practice is more about the holistic approach: mind, body and spirit. It’s just as important that I know how you’re feeling psychologically before a session starts. It’s not just about how you are feeling physically.

What do you like do when youโ€™re not at Element?

Walk, yoga, swim, lots of sleep ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh and travel to Esalen Institute where I take time to myself and also continue my education.
