The logistics
Zero Balancing sessions can be booked in 30- or 60-minute sessions. ZB is inherently efficient and powerful, so that any longer sessions will overwork or deplete the body.
Clients remain clothed, so comfortable clothing is important. You will lie facing up, since ZB was developed to empower the person undergoing it.
Zero Balancing can feel very gentle and energetic or it can be quite hedonic โ that โhurts goodโ feelingโ often called therapeutic pain. Most sessions involve a mixture of both, but can be geared more towards one or the other depending on what each person prefers.
There is an aspect of energy work and the body continues to reorganize itself even after the session has ended, so there is often what is called a โprocessing periodโ that can last from a couple of hours to a couple of days. Each person experiences the processing period differently, we recommend that people treat themselves gently during this time (maybe donโt run a marathon or watch a scary movie before bed etc). If there is any soreness or any fatigue, keep in mind that you will feel better than ever once the processing period has run its course.
Additionally, I like to involve conscious processing and intention framing as well as visceral manipulation depending on my clientsโ needs and goals.
Those who benefit most from Zero Balancing
While I have seen a variety of people experience profound benefits from ZB, I have repeatedly witnessed these situations and people:
People who continuously have to ask for deeper pressure in massage. I find that when people canโt get deep enough muscle pressure, they unknowingly want their deepest, densest tissue and bone touched and freed from tension.
People with unprocessed shock or trauma. In biking or car accidents, for instance, one has to deal with insurance, police, and other logistical factors instead of giving ourselves the opportunity to recover from the shock. In Zero Balancing, we work with tissue-held vibration and tissue-held memory/emotion. Often times the shock or trauma can be released without even having to process it consciously.
People with chronic back pain in which musculoskeletal work has not created lasting relief. Just like when a tight muscle can cause pain in the joint that it attaches to or crosses, tightness in the organs and their suspending ligaments can cause pain in the bones that they attach to. The lower back is especially susceptible to this. Advanced ZB practitioners can gently connect to the organs and visceral ligaments to release and reorganize them.
People who are looking to change a habit or perspective to enhance their enjoyment of life and wellbeing. Advanced Zero Balancing practitioners can implement an intention/framing session into the basic ZB protocol in which a personโs goals can be dropped deeply into the energetic field of the body. This embodiment is a huge aid to mental and emotional processing and wellbeing.
Anyone with chronic digestive issues, body aches, pains, anxiety. or depression.
Those who are ticklish!
People who experience strong tickle responses during regular massage can experience a deeper release without inducing a tickle response during a Zero Balancing session.
