Recently, CBD oil has become popular, for good reason. Reducing pain and inflammation (including chronic pain, muscle pain, arthritis, even menstrual pain!), alleviating anxiety (say goodbye to that knotted-up chest constriction), relieving nausea, promoting better sleep, regulating and balancing mood, decreasing seizure activity, acting as a neuroprotector (beneficial for Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s, stroke), improving acne, minimizing side effects associated with cancer treatments, and encouraging cardiovascular health– these are just a few of the benefits of CBD oil!

CBD stands for cannabidiol, one of many compounds found in cannabis. CBD acts an adaptogenic, balancing and regulating the body. There are different qualities, strengths, and strains of CBD. Contrary to rumor, CBD oil does not make people “high.”

Our bodies are truly amazing. The human body has an endocannabinoid system, which is involved in several physiological processes including pain sensation, mood, memory, and appetite. Our body also has cannabinoid receptors, to which the endocannabinoids can bind. CBD (cannabidiol) is not thought to bind to these receptors (primarily CB1 and CB2) but, instead, stimulates and activates the receptors to encourage more binding of the body’s own cannabinoid, thereby affecting pain, sleep, mood, memory, etc.

CBD can interact with many different receptors (including serotonin receptors), either enhancing or inhibiting how a receptor transmits a signal, affecting a plethora of healing responses. CBD acts as a natural boost for our bodies’ own healing responses.

CBD oil and products are not addictive. It’s best to take it on an empty stomach by allowing the oil to sit under the tongue for 1-2 minutes before being swallowed, for the quickest results. Allow between 20-60 minutes to feel the effects.

Element now offers CBD in oil, tincture, pills, lotion, and balm formulations. We carry strengths ranging from 15mg-2000mg. For more information, call Element.
