I have been contemplating the power of words and the power of positive thoughts lately as I return again and again to the power carried by our words. I am inspired by the very positive words of Mohandas K. Ghandi. “…Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior.” You want to choose words that define how you want to act, not how you react. Positive language also represents how we think and view the world, even as it helps us to shape that world.
My husband once told me “if you want me to remember something, please tell me to “please remember” instead of “don’t forget”– I’m more likely to remember that way.” This simple request had an incredible effect on me. People, in general, seem to be more receptive when language is spoken with more positive word choices. We can improve our lives if we take the time to think before we speak. The more we practice the easier it gets. People are more likely to listen and respond when we use more positive phrases and words. Positive words represent good intentions and responsibility. People, in general, long to connect and respond with warmth to things others say. Add more positivity into each day with more awareness of your words and you will be happier, as will those people around you.
