IMG_6620There is definitely a distinct joy that comes with supporting friends and family during times of celebration, as well as during times of sorrow and loss. Being there and offering your support can bring both comfort and joy to the special individual and increase a sense of belonging. Being bolstered during trials and tribulations gives people a sense of community. It’s pulls us together as a society. It is literal love and compassion.
Recently I joined a book reading and signing for our wonderful web editor, JillEllyn Riley. It was special event for her second book, The Icing on the Cake. I was overjoyed to see the turn-out and so happy to be a part of it. Just a few days ago, our son Ames was baptized in Brazil. There was an outpouring of love from incredible friends and family who joined us to welcome our beloved baby to the world.
Being there during times of loss also underscores a strong sense of belonging and community. Nobody should have to go through terrible times alone. Reaching out even, even when it is hard, even when it makes you uncomfortable, can make all the difference to somebody enduring a tragedy. The death of a family member, a friend, or even a cherished pet can be soul wrenching. Having support can lighted the load and lift the wounded spirit in an amazing way.
So remember to support those who may need your love and attention, in any way, big or small. It will make all the difference. Be happy and love one another.
