Yin Tang is a commonly used and frequently requested acupuncture point, located between the eyebrows. It is used to calm the mind; reduce anxiety and agitation; help insomnia; benefit the sinuses, including relieving sinus pain, inflammation, and congestion; and alleviate many kinds of headaches. There is often a relaxing, heavy, tingly sensation felt at the site when this point is needled. Yin Tang allows the body to calmly settle.
Self- administered acupressure to this point can provide some of the same benefits. Apply gentle pressure and massage in small circles with your middle or index finger. Add a little lavender oil to this point and relish some extra tranquility. Dabbing a bit of eucalyptus or peppermint oil can relieve headache pressure or pain and sinus discomfort. (Be very careful not to get it in your eyes!)
Working this point into your daily relaxation and self-care routine will help with better health and mental calmness.
